Leonard Terry Pynes MD FAAD
Dr. Pynes was born in Dothan, AL but spent his childhood in the neighboring town of Ashford, AL. He graduated from Ashford High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alabama. He then received his Doctor of Medicine from the College of Medicine of the University of South Alabama. Dr. Pynes completed residencies in both internal medicine and dermatology in Birmingham, AL. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Dermatology. In 1984 he opened Dermatology Associates of Dothan. Over time, his practice has included several aspects of dermatology, but he now limits his practice to general dermatology and skin cancer treatment. He has also opened satellite offices in Enterprise, Troy, and Eufaula. Presently Dr. Pynes is concentrating his work in Dothan. Dr. Pynes resides in Dothan and Huntsville, AL with his wife, Tina. They have 5 children and 4 grandchildren. The Huntsville home is much closer to his grandchildren. But Dr. Pynes is in Dothan most of the time.

On staff at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan. Medical students rotate through Dermatology Associates for training.
On staff at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program in Dothan, which will be taking its first residents in 2018.
On staff at both Flowers Hospital and Southeast Alabama Medical Center for consultations. Most of these consultations are done by telemedicine.
Associated with Huntsville Dermatology, where he will work occasionally in association with Surgical Dermatology Group.
He also does telemedicine consultation with physicians in Whitefish, MT where he once owned and operated Whitefish Dermatology.
Patrick Scott Nelson PA-C
Patrick Nelson is a Physician Assistant working with Dermatology Associates of Dothan. Having grown up in Coffee County, AL, Patrick truly feels at home in Dothan. Patrick graduated summa cum laude from Troy University in 2006 earning a Bachelor Degree in Biology. He also graduated summa cum laude from the Physician Assistant’s program of The University of South Alabama in 2009. He began working with Dermatology Associates upon his graduation in 2009 and continues to enjoy serving the skincare needs of the Wiregrass. Patrick is married to Hannah, who is a native of Dothan and a local high school English and Rhetoric teacher. They are actively involved members at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. They enjoy running half marathons, and going on mission trips. Patrick is an avid reader and lover of all outdoor activities and sports.
Our Mohs Surgical Staff
Surgical Dermatology Group
This is a group of Mohs surgeons that has offices in Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery, and now with us in Dothan. Physicians who practice at our Dothan office include: Chris Harmon MD, Jonathan Cappel MD, and Brian King MD. They provide Mohs surgery in our Dothan office at least once a week, usually Fridays.
